New Coin 2023 – The Royal Mint has revealed details of its next series of commemorative coins, called the Annual Collection – and it will be the first time King Charles III will appear on the £2 coin.

There will also be two £2 coins commemorating the life of Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkien and the centenary of the Flying Scotsman.

The final collection will be completed by two 50p coins celebrating the 75th anniversary of the NHS and the 75th anniversary of the Windrush generation.
The 2023 commemorative sets will be available from 3 January on the Royal Mint website in a range of precious metal and base colours.

Prices start at £50 for a Brilliant Uncirculated set and go up to £10,390 for a Platinum Proof set. Each currency will be available individually in 2023.

“As we enter the New Year, we begin to see one of the biggest changes to British coinage in decades as the portrait of King Charles III begins to appear on the new British currency.”
