New England Revolution 2023 Schedule – With New England missing the season, the Revs can now only focus on next season and find out how they can improve. Therefore, the staff from Bent Musket gave their thoughts on how the season ended.
I will say that the only reason this isn’t an F is because of some quality. Keep them out of the way.

Djordje Petrovic is an absolute beast at the net. His shot blocking ability is up there with Matt Turner and I think the Serbian will be better than the current USMNT starter.

New England also saw some promising games from young players. Noel Buck was able to score his first goal and Damian Rivera and Justin Rennicks also had some flashes.
But then, it was awful. The fact that the revolution missed the playoffs with the talent they have is unacceptable. Making the playoffs should be at least this team.
Considering the two draft picks who have been with New England all season, Gustavo Bou and Carles Gil did poorly. Although Bou won the Golden Boot competition, the moment he lost it was a disappointment. Gil also put up impressive numbers, but stepped back after being named MVP in 2022.

If you look at the conversion rate, the picture is just bleaker. While Petrovic hit home, Giacomo Vrioni and Dylan Borrero missed important moments due to injury, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi has not played in New England since being picked up due to injury as well.
When you look at the old teammates Bruce brought in before the season started, only Omar Gonzalez remained. Jozy Altidore is on loan with Puebla and Sebastian Lletget has been welcomed by FC Dallas where he has found a new life.
Gonzalez had a tough season making a lot of mistakes. It will be interesting to see if he stays in New England in 2023. Altidore could also be on the way, as he told Soccer that he hopes to stay in Liga MX. Oh, and let’s not get Christian Makoun’s bad game started.

Running back also seems to be an area of concern for the Revs. The previous partnership between Henry Kessler and Andrew Farrell has been struggling in 2022. New England can make some changes to improve the position of leaving Kessler in the competition for the starting point (I myself do not think Farrell will be anywhere).
The full-back looks good but is difficult to follow throughout the season. DeJuan Jones and Brandon Bye did a good job, but struggled defensively at times.
This season has been really bad. The Revs should be in the playoffs, but due to poor performances combined with bad luck, they are sitting at home thinking about it again in 2021.
New England Revolution 2023 Away Kit
If I had to sum up the season in one word, it would be “released.” The Revs had plenty of opportunities to succeed in 2022, but let them pass. Up to 3-0 in the second stage against Pumas, blow on the penalty. They made the US Open Cup overtime after a poor performance against the line that defeated Cincinnati 5-1 in the Round of 16. TWENTY NINE! That’s two more than the fall in 2021.
There is one reason they don’t get an F in my book, and that is the addition of Esmir Bajraktarević, Noel Buck and Djordje Petrović. I don’t know what to expect from Petrović in goal, but it’s clear that Bruce and company have been pleased with his development since arriving in New England. The Revolution II duo of Esmir Bajraktarević and Noel Buck were gradually forced into the first team and earned real praise. Expect to see the duo play in the plans for 2023 and beyond.
After exiting the 2021 playoffs, the club’s campaign is closed. A year later, the window has gotten thinner. Clubs must evaluate themselves during the off-season and make the necessary adjustments to realize their potential. If not, what we will see in 2022 will be a model of Revolution.

Listen, I agree with a lot of what was said above, especially Josh who took the loss point from getting the job. The Revs have been particularly terrible in giving up leads and losing early in the year, and even their best average season featured more streaks than wins in a 10-game stretch. New England has a tough job in 2022, with injuries affecting them early and late in the year.
The Revs almost bounced back from a bad start to the year when Turner got injured and found New England back in the basement of the Eastern Conference. The promotion of the first late window was necessary after signing off the season of Jozy and Omar failed even though Lletget tried his best and did very well. Djordje Petrovic is a big slam signing with Giacomo Vrioni and Dylan Borrero as DP forward and TAM winger respectively.
But aside from Petrovic, none of these players made a good impact on the court of New England, which stuck with the opposition Justin Rennicks, the shadow of Tommy McNamara and the village of Buck and Bajraktarevic for most of the month. And while everyone on the offensive team is performing well now, you can’t lose your entire starting offensive line that brought in $25 million in player trades last year.

Expectations for the 2022 revolution are astronomically high, and for good reason. There are CCL hopes and dreams for honest play that never got off the ground and probably never will. Yes, everyone thought the Revs would be good, maybe not a Shield win, but good team play was the key and the Revs quickly pushed themselves to climb out.
The value I give the Revs shows a lot about the long term. New England has been caught between trying to balance short-term and long-term success this year and has burned in the short term, almost permanently damaged and then hurt by other diseases. Can a healthy Vrioni and/or Borrero put this team in line for the playoffs? We will never know, but they should be able to help the Revs return in 2023. The New England Revolution will open the season before January 9th. This is a big year for the club, as they cannot play in 2022. Just one year after setting a new record for the season.
The Revs had a quiet start to the offseason with Bobby Wood only being signed before the MLS SuperDraft. In the letter, the club selected midfielder Joshua Bolma, and several defenders Victor Souza and Andreas Ueland.

The club stunned on Monday when it exchanged $400,000 in its 2023 allocation to LAFC for midfielder Latif Blessing. LAFC can make more money if there are some performance measures.
Recent trades have fueled speculation about the Revs’ starting lineup in 2023. In a must-see preview, Matt Doyle projects that the Revolution will use a 4-5-1 with Carles Gil, Dylan Borrero, Nacho Gil and Giacomo. Vrioni led the attack.
This makes sense because the Revs use this lineup in 2022, but it leaves one of the two DPs on the bench.

Gustavo Bou could go elsewhere, but if he stays, maybe Bou plays outside instead of Nacho Gil, or maybe Bou and Vrioni, and Bobby Wood and Jozy Altidore, compete for minutes.
Another option is a 4-4-2 diamond because Bruce Arena likes to play with two strikers. Matt Polster will sit inside while Borrero and Blessing share the wings. This setup required more Polster, but the Revs saw success when using the same setup in 2021.
Here is the planned starting lineup that I posted recently. I can see the Blessing as a “New Sign” role. The biggest problem with this line is that it asks a lot of Polster. That said, a similar campaign won the Supporters Shield in 2021. #NERevs https://t.co/60KkFqftWN pic.twitter.com/4bO2ixDXgB — Seth (@SethMan31) January 3, 2023
Preview: New England Revolution Vs. Dc United
I can also see the Revs in a 4-5-1 with Gil playing as a right midfielder. He took the master out of the middle but had a good relationship with Brandon Bye. Not what I want to happen, but I can see it happening.
Bottom line, I need to know what the final list looks like before I make any big requests. A live cow? What about Altidore? What else is done before the first stitch? How to change the window in the summer?
The Revs are leaving three key players before or during the 2022 season as Tajon Buchanan, Matt Turner and Adam Buksa all said goodbye. Yes
