New Handheld Console 2023 – There were days when Sony dominated the scene with the PSP and PS Vita, be it gaming or multimedia entertainment. Fast forward to the present and there are only a few good options left on the market, which might be the Nintendo Switch and the Steam deck.
While Sony has said it will avoid going down the same path, handheld gaming is here to stay. Although gaming phones have played a major role when it comes to casual or new esports entertainment, handheld consoles have a lot of room to regain lost glory.

This handheld gadget is yet another concept that gives avid gamers yet another reason to yearn for a Sony handheld after a gap of many years. Devin calls it the PlayStation 5 handheld game console, and for good reason. The likeness of the PS5 screams loudly with the similarity in design and color theme. Although the designer does not provide any information about the function of the PS 5 handheld, it allows me to imagine everything. It’s a bit different from PlayStation handhelds I’ve come across before, but both concepts will have their favorites on both sides of the camp.
Fancy A Steam Deck Pro? This Could Be The Handheld You’ve Been Dreaming Of
The button configuration is a strong mirror image of the original PSP (or all Sony game controllers), which speaks to the material of the hand. The ergonomic design of the Sony handheld is a worthy addition as gamers put in long sessions, no matter what they use to play their favorite title. The placement of the D-pad, analog sticks, and buttons looks good, but I would have liked a bit more size for all of them.
The PlayStation 5 docks into the cool charging station between handheld breaks, and in this tethered state, the entire device looks like an extension of the PS5 game console. Imagine owning these two consoles for a connected gaming experience whether you’re at home or on the subway every day.

Logitech Announces A Handheld Console Focused On Cloud Gaming
Valve just announced the Steam Deck, a long-rumored Switch-like handheld gaming device. It will start shipping in December and bookings will open on July 16 at 1:00 PM. It starts at $399, you can also buy it in $529 and $649 models.
The device features an AMD APU with a quad-core Zen 2 processor, eight threads and eight AMD RDNA 2 graphics compute units, and 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. There are three different storage tiers: 64GB of eMMC storage for $399, 256GB of NVMe SSD storage for $529, and 512GB of high-speed NVME SSD storage for $649, according to Valve. You can also expand the available storage using the high-speed microSD card slot.
Steam Deck has many control options. There are two thumbsticks under the thumbstick, but also two smaller, Steam controller-style trackpads that can give you more precision for first-person shooters. The front of the Steam Deck also features ABXY buttons for 720p gaming, a D-pad, and a 7-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen. The device also has a gyroscope for motion control. Like the Switch, it has two shoulder triggers on each side, and four back buttons (two on each side), as well as a built-in microphone.

As for the battery, “Steam Deck’s built-in 40 watt-hour battery provides several hours of playtime for most games,” says Valve. “For light use cases such as game streaming, small 2D games, or web surfing, you can expect a maximum battery life of around 7-8 hours.” Valve tells IGN that “You can play
At this point in four hours. If you limit it to 30 FPS, you’ll play for 5-6 hours.”
And if you need to pause your game, Steam Deck offers a quick suspend/resume feature built into SteamOS that lets you put your device to sleep and pick up where you left off later.

Valve will also sell a cart that you can use to set up the Steam Deck and connect it to an external display like a TV. You don’t need a dock to connect it to the TV. Valve says “the deck can be connected to your TV, monitor, or even your old CRT if you have the right cables.” The deck is equipped with a full range of USB-C ports, including HDMI, Ethernet and USB data, as well as standard Bluetooth. Want the built-in Bluetooth audio that the Nintendo Switch lacks?
On the software side, the Steam Deck runs what Valve calls a “new version of SteamOS” that’s optimized for the handheld form factor. But the operating system itself is based on Linux and will use Proton as a compatibility layer to allow Windows-based games to run without requiring developers to port them specifically for Steam.
The rear view of the device shows the four knob buttons, triggers, bumpers, valves and a switch-like design.

After all, Steam Deck is still a fully-fledged Linux desktop, meaning that more advanced users will be able to switch to a regular Linux desktop as well. Valve says you’ll be able to connect a mouse, keyboard, and monitor, as well as install other game stores, common PC software, surf the web, and more.
Valve says Steam Deck’s features are designed to emulate the regular Steam app on the desktop, complete with chat, notifications, cloud storage support, and keeping your entire library, collections, and favorites in sync. And if you want even more power, you’ll be able to stream games directly from your gaming PC to Steam Deck using Valve’s Remote Play feature.
When pre-orders for all three versions open Friday afternoon, they will initially only be available to accounts with Steam purchases until June 2021, in an effort to keep dealer bots at bay. There is also a $5 refundable reservation fee and one reservation per person. Your reservation is not exactly a pre-order, but it does allow you to pre-order the system when inventory is available.

The first units will be available in the US, Canada, EU and UK in December, with other regions in 2022. Pre-order invites go out through December, and if you miss the invite window, your pre-order fee will be refunded to your Steam Wallet.
IGN also interviewed Valve’s Gabe Newell, who stated that Valve designed the entire system with “very aggressive” pricing in mind, calling it a “critical” and “painful” aspect of development. This is a different strategy than Valve took with the Valve Index VR headset, when it deliberately tried to push the most expensive consumer VR experience at $999 at the time. Here, the $400 Steam deck comes in at just $50 more than Nintendo’s new OLED-equipped Switch, which can be pre-ordered today for $350 and ships on October 8. (The valve hit it.)
If the Steam Deck is successful, the company is already thinking about future models and is even offering “building blocks” to other manufacturers. “We see this as a new category of devices in the PC space,” he said. This could bring back echoes of Valve’s failed Steam Machine initiative, where it tried to encourage partners to create desirable Linux gaming desktops, but with key differences.
So, When Will Nintendo Announce Its Next Console?
This time, Valve built their own hardware first, they don’t need to sell Linux ports to every game developer, and this “class” of PCs already exists to some extent; we wrote about how Windows laptops approached.
