The New York Times Matters in Need Fund has supported urban production for more than 30 years. The Times is delighted to name Urban Harvest as a charity beneficiary of its food festival. Funds raised from bake sales and leftovers from the festival help Urban Harvest Food feed underserved New Yorkers. and New York Times food and cooking correspondents.
The New York Times announced today that the food festival will return to Damrosch Park (at Lincoln Center) in New York City for the first time since 2019 on October 8. The festival brings together some of the biggest names in the culinary industry, along with The New York Times Food and Culinary Editor-in-Chief Emily Weinstein, Associate Editor Sam Sifton and the extensive food and culinary teams.
“We look forward to bringing our readers and journalists together this fall,” said Emily Weinstein, The Times’ food and cooking editor. “The joy of cooking has been a constant for many of us over the past few years, and the New York Times chef community is only growing and the passion is growing. This festival is an opportunity for us not only to meet our readers in person. From restaurants that serve their food choices to recipes.

“Following the success of our first food festival, we’re confident the food and cooking teams will come up with something special this year,” said Jimmy Sanders, executive director of audio and events. “We’re thrilled to continue to bring The Times’ food and cooking stories to life – and to bring together people who love to cook and eat for a day of discovery and enjoyment.”

There will be food, drink and markets available for purchase. Proceeds from Natasha Pickwich’s bake sale, along with leftovers from the festival, will be donated to Urban Harvest, an organization that works to feed nearly 1.2 million food-insecure New Yorkers.
